The Safe Schools Coalition was set up after school teachers and principals were wanting a resources for the young LGBTI youth as they noticed that they were struggling at school and they were being bullied by others.
here are some well known facts about the LGBTI youth if they don't get the support they need

80% of Australian same-sex attracted and transgendered students face verbal abuse and bullying at school,

 

Only 1 in 5 LGBTI students attend school where they feel supported.

 

Young same-sex attracted and transgendered students are six times more likely to die from suicide with bullying and exclusion being major factors in suicide attempts
